Afterlife: The 3-Part Guide
Given a project brief titled"Instructions To Rewire a House or Apartment" by The Glasgow School or Art. Creating a typographic manual on how to rewire a house or apartment is not an easy feat. However, to follow the manual and to attempt rewiring it yourself is even harder. With statistics showing that electrical problems which arise from self-rewiring works account for approximately up to 485 deaths and $868 million in property loses per year.
With deaths in tow and inspired by the intricate works at Haw Par Villa, "Afterlife: The 3-Part Guide" guides you through the 18 realms of hell. The guide books are split and ranked according to the colours with reference to joss papers. They start from Bronze (Afterlife Basics), Silver (Hell Basics) to Gold (Hell's Miscellaneous). The guides are printed on paper which are meticulously selected to resemble the material of joss and incense papers. This is to give readers a more realistic feel while browsing the prints. All booklets were hand bound with red thread.
This project was part of The Glasgow School of Art - 100 Days of GSA "The Dark Horse Show" Showcase.
